A new day spa destination, plus an Island Haus pop-up and a spring trunk show
Harrison Blackford’s hand-painted throw pillows are inspired by the colors of Rainbow Row and the beach.
R&R Respite
Step into Woodhouse Day Spa’s new downtown digs when it opens its doors this month, and you’ll soon forget that you’re right off the busy intersection of Spring Street and Lockwood Drive. The expansive 9,000 square foot, two-story spa boasts three relaxation rooms with fireplaces where you can snuggle into a fluffy robe and sip hot tea while waiting for one of the many pampering treatments offered, such as the popular hydrafacial. The space also features massage rooms, a tub room, a Vichy shower room, and a retail boutique, where you can find local jewelry, pajamas, candles, and other items. VIP members will have access to WestEdge’s rooftop pool before or after their treatments. [10 WestEdge, Suite A, charleston.woodhousespas.com]
Pillow Talk
Abstract and impressionist artist Harrison Blackford has introduced a home collection featuring hand-painted throw pillows in vibrant hues inspired by her love of the Lowcountry. Blackford paints with acrylic on fabric fringed in burlap and accented with colorful cord. Local artisans hand sew the 24-inch by 24-inch pillows, which include a down insert and a signature hand-painted tag. [78 Line St., harrisonblackford.com]
Island Time
Renee Gutzwiller, the designer behind Island Haus Co., and curator Sarah Miller, of Miller Gallery, have partnered to open a pop-up stationery and gift shop inside the East Bay Street contemporary art gallery. Gutzwiller’s coastal-inspired accessory line includes prints, cards, coffee mugs, tea towels, and totes featuring bright watercolor pineapples, palm trees, and cityscapes. The shop, which will remain open through February, also will carry local gifts from Tidal Jewelry, Charleston Weekender, Molly and Me Pecans, and King Bean coffee.
