Pattern Play
Sister stores Candelabra and Lyndon Leigh have brought Selamat’s highly anticipated Florence Broadhurst collection to Charleston. It interprets designs created by the famed Broadhurst, who in 1959 launched a line of luxury, hand-printed wallpapers in her native Australia, growing her company’s image archive to 500-plus pieces before her death in 1977. Explore the collection, which includes furniture, lighting, wall art, and accessories (a selection of which are shown above), during a trunk show at Lyndon Leigh on September 22, 5 to 8 p.m. "This trunk show is only the first introduction to the line,” notes shop owner Whitney Moore. ”There is much more to come!” [Lyndon Leigh, 1944 Long Grove Dr., Mount Pleasant; www.shopcandelabra.com]
New to Market
SHOP: It’s a fitting name for the new Market Street boutique opened by Finicky Filly owner Rebecca Steinberg, because we want to slap down every last dollar on clothing from the likes of Free People, Show Me Your MuMu, Joie, and Tory Burch while also indulging in top Lowcountry-made products. ”I wanted to provide a boutique experience with an amplified focus on local goods and Charleston charm,” explains Steinberg, who’s stocked Sangria jewelry, Taxidermy shoes and handbags, Charleston rice beads, art prints, and more. Stop in the first Wednesday of each month for Wine Down Wednesday, catered by 5Church. [92 N. Market St., find ”shop92market” on Instagram]
Bed Time!
If your children could design their own beds, would they go for stacked bunks with a slide? Maybe a lofted mattress with a playhouse down below? Or a sleeping spot on bottom and a knight’s castle up top? All are very real possibilities at Maxtrix Kids Rooms, celebrating its grand opening on September 17. The brand, owned by locally based Maxwood Furniture, offers a furniture system intended to grow with the child, with conversion kits allowing parents to incorporate desks, bookshelves, and more.
