The Party: The eighth annual Gibbes on the Street party, one of the museum’s largest fundraising fêtes, invited more than 25 celebrated local chefs to whip up small plates inspired by the theme, “Paint Your Palate.” The museum’s block of Meeting Street was closed for the event, and guests, fittingly dressed to the nines in a rainbow of hues, enjoyed the al fresco affair while sampling bites from the likes of Charleston Grill, Le Farfalle, Zero George, Chez Nous, and countless more. All of the bites up from grabs drew inspiration from the year’s color trends, resulting in a feast of vibrant fare as far as the eye could see. After getting their fill of everything from snapper ceviche to miniature tartines, many partygoers took to the dance floor as local swing outfit First Class Band provided the tunes, while others were lured into the Gibbes to explore the museum’s exhibitions after hours.
The Highlight: Scallop tartare with coconut, cilantro, and crispy potato from Vinson Petrillo of Zero George
Overheard: “I was full an hour ago, and I still haven’t tried everything!”
