The Party: Craft beer connoisseurs headed to the Grove at Patriots Point for the sixth annual Charleston Beer Garden. More than 20 local and regional breweries set up taps throughout the venue for samplings of different brews, while amateur brewmasters went head-to-head in the Home Brewery Village to claim the title of “Best in Show.” Things really heated up during the afternoon, as participants duked it out in a number of wild challenges—from the hands-free pizza-eating competition and giant Jenga game to the arm-wrestling match and beer trivia. The brews flowed well into the evening as everyone enjoyed food trucks and live music.
Highlight: Watching participants hurl kegs through the air during the Kettlebell Keg Toss
Overheard: “Would you hold both of my beers for me?”
