The Party: The sixth annual Charleston Beer Garden returned to the Grove at Patriot’s Point to serve as a paradise for craft beer connoisseurs. The much-anticipated event, benefitting Lowcountry AIDS Services, featured 24 individual breweries (including many favorites from the Charleston area), making it the largest pop-up beer garden in the Lowcountry. Attendees also enjoyed a parade of food trucks, live music, and the home brewery village where brewmasters competed for the title of "Best in Show." The afternoon got a bit rowdy with the kickoff of the annual Beer Games, in which participants duked it out in a number of wild challenges from the hilarious pony hop race to giant Jenga. There was never a dull moment as the fun and games raged on and the craft brews flowed well into the evening.
Highlight: watching participants hurl kegs through the air during the Kettlebell Keg Toss
Overheard: “Would you hold both of my beers for me?”
