Ten acres of U-pick strawberries await at Boone Hall Farms. Did You Know? The strawberry isn’t a true berry, but a small genus of low perennial herbs (Fragaria) that is a member of the rose family (Rosaceae).

Fraîche Take - Since the 19th century, strawberries and cream have been traditional Wimbledon fare. Perhaps the Credit One Charleston Open tennis tourney (April 1-9) needs its own specialty snack? We propose strawberries with crème fraîche, a nod to our city’s French heritage. To make this soured cream treat, simply combine a tablespoon of buttermilk with a cup of (not ultra) pasteurized heavy cream in a glass container, cover with cheesecloth, set at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours, and then refrigerate.
Strawberry Picnic: 1.Raincoast Crisps or a baguette, 2.Brie or Grana Padano cheese, 3.Walnuts, 4.Honey or balsamic glaze, 5.Strawberries -- Take a crisp, or baguette slice, add a small layer of Brie or Grana Padano, and top with a walnut and strawberry slice. Add a drizzle of honey or balsamic vinegar glaze. Serve with a chilled rosé.
