The Party: Beaufain Street was a sea of “Rainbows, Unicorns, and Glitter” on this August evening, and for good reason. Adhering the event’s punchy theme, guests of this year’s Gay Bingo went all out, unicorn horns and all. Partygoers gathered at Memminger Auditorium decked out in their most audacious outfits, and soon beloved Master of Ceremonies “Patti O’Furniture” took the stage to “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang to kick off a night of raunchy jokes—and an important message. The annual night of bingo and shenanigans is hosted to raise funds for Palmetto Community Care (formerly Lowcountry AIDS Services), intended to bring awareness of HIV/AIDS to the community. The winner of each game was showered with bingo cards as they approached the stage, and guests enjoyed taking pictures at the over-the-top photo booths between games. Cooper River Brewing supplied a glitter-infused orange blond beer for the occasion, and food and beverage trucks such as Braised in the South were parked in the garden patio to fuel the sequin-clad players.
