Cabin Fever: A dreamy log cabin, built circa 1940 and tucked away at the foot of a waterfall on the REEB Ranch property, was our adventure headquarters. The one-bedroom, one-bunk-room cabin (available to rent from spring to late fall) is on the outskirts of Brevard and right by DuPont State Forest.
Good Eats: The home-cooked, locally sourced fare at Magpie’s Meat & Three (left and below middle) compensated—and then some—for any calories burned on trails. As a college town and home to a summer music festival, Brevard’s dining scene offers numerous delicious options.
When Oskar Blues Brewery set up shop in Brevard in 2012, the Colorado-based business (the first to put craft beer in a can) became a pivotal leader in the WNC cycling community, as well as a top draw for beer lovers.
