Homegrown, Johns Island

Homegrown, Johns Island
April 2015

For a less crowded, more down-home market that you can depend on year-round, head out to John’s Island’s “Homegrown” version in a grassy lot off Maybank Highway. There you’ll find a good mix of produce from nearby farms, such as Joseph Fields, Irish, and Thackeray; hydroponic tomatoes from Holy City; and Sea Island Savory’s plants and herbs; as well as organic meats and natural pet food from Brick House Farms; eggs, chicks, and organic feed from John’s Island Organics; and kimchi and pickled okra from Kenchi Ferments. Beyond the grocery list, shop for women’s resale fashions and jewelry, pick up some great smelling candles and body scrubs, grab a bite from the rotating list of food trucks, play corn hole, and take a free crochet class.
