Satellite images of the Earth? The surface of the moon? Believe it or not, the following photographs represent a small stretch of beach on the Isle of Palms. There, local photographer David Batchelder focuses his lens down and plays with the perspective to find otherworldly landscapes, animal-like forms, and beautiful abstractions in the ever-shifting sand.
