Workshop comes to King Street

From fireplace tools to tables made from sinker cypress to lamps created from old newel posts, the inventory at Workshop—opened in February at 609 King—is ”centered on craftsmanship,” says John Palmer. He recently relocated from New York to launch the store, which is the retail arm of Building Art, LLC, American College of the Building Arts (ACBA) founder John Paul Huguley’s business that helps connect fine craftsmen with folks desiring their services.

While carrying home accents made by ACBA alum, furnishings repurposed from antiques (for example, a sausage rack turned into a chandelier), and salvaged architectural elements, Workshop also ”provides a venue for local craftsmen to collaborate with clients seeking to create unique custom pieces,” says Palmer.
