Renowned voice Mavis Staples, who draws inspiration from a number of genres including pop, rock, blues, R&B, hip-hop, soul, and gospel, debuted her 16th studio album, If All I Was Was Black, in 2017 to major critical acclaim. A part of the Staples Singers as a child, the vocalist played a profound role in Civil Rights by becoming a young voice for the movement. Now an unstoppable powerhouse of American soul music, Staples has served as inspiration for the likes of Prince, Bob Dylan, and countless others.
