Spring Street’s new stationery and craft supply shop The Paper Canopy is hosting several Valentine-themed workshops this month. On February 4, make “cupid’s crackers” with small gifts and messages tucked inside ($25 per person). Later that evening, craft a Victorian puzzle purse using a sure-to-impress origami fold that creates a secret compartment ($35 per person). And on February 13, head to the boutique for a gals and pals party, where you can get sparkling fairy hair and share the details of your worst date for a chance to win a gift card. Alexander Klaes and Emily Hill have been popping up all over town with their AL&EM permanent jewelry, welding custom-fit, claspless gold bracelets and necklaces on groups of friends, siblings, couples, and parents and children. They opened a by-appointment-only studio at The Refinery on Meeting Street last fall, offering their permanent jewelry line and capsule collection of minimalistic fine jewelry. Longtime Charleston retailer M. Dumas & Sons and a Los Angeles-based men’s lifestyle store have partnered to open a Johnnie O-branded shop in The Charleston Place, offering an extensive collection of the popular line that includes plaid shirts, quarter-zip pullovers, and polos. Johnnie O is known for styles combining “East Coast prep with West Coast casual” that can go from “beach to boardroom.” M.
